Dr. Soumajit Sarkar, born and raised in Chinsurah, Hooghly (West Bengal). He graduated as “Bachelor in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry” from West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, Kolkata (West Bengal) in the year 2014. Thereafter, he obtained the degree of “Master in Veterinary Science” in Veterinary Virology from ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) in the year 2016. Further, he completed his “Doctor of Philosophy” in Veterinary Virology from ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) in the year 2021. He is the recipient of ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute Fellowship (2014), ICAR-Senior Research Fellowship (2016) and UGC-NFSC fellowship for Ph.D. research (2017). Dr. Soumajit has secured “Best Oral presentation Award” at the international conference at Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal, Tamil Nadu in the year 2019. He is the recipient of “Young Scientist Award” at 14th Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology at Uttrakhand in the year 2020. He has rendered his service as a “Veterinary Officer” in the cadre of ‘Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services’ in the Animal Resources Development Department, Government of West Bengal from 2020 to 2023. He was selected in the post of “Scientist B” at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata (West Bengal) in the year 2023. He has joined Agricultural Research Service under Indian Council of Agricultural Research on 11th April 2023. Presently, he is posted as a “Scientist” at ICAR-Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Ranchi-834010 from 21st July 2023.
