To undertake the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav program of the Government of India, three multidisciplinary teams were constituted involving scientists from ICAR-IIAB in 2021. Seventeen villages in three districts (Latehar, Chatra and Ranchi) of Jharkhand were selected under the program, to cover about 979 farmers from different adopted villages. Under the program, specific awareness program was launched for “management of farms during COVID-19, under which various aspects were discussed on farm survival strategies which could mitigate the effect of the COVID pandemic. A demonstration was conducted on various aspects of soil testing for crops and water samples for aquaculture in the adopted villages of Ranchi district. Under the program we have distributed complete sets of hand operated farm tools and battery-operated sprayers (input received from SCSP and STC) and also provided training and demonstration for their uses on farm land, kitchen gardening, pasture land, etc. Improved varieties of rice, (IR-64 drt-1, TRC-2015-05 & Sahbhagi) and mustard (PM-27) seeds were also distributed to farmers for high yield and remunerative return. A specific program was launched for natural farming and zero budget farming for sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture in adopted villages. Technical supports being provided through meeting, discussions and mobile advisory on various aspect of agriculture & allied activities viz., selection of suitable varieties of agricultural crops under various agro climates, packages and practices for quality seed production, scientific hatchery.
